About Counselor
School Counselor for Grades 3-6
Who Am I and How I Can HelpI received my Master's in School Counseling in 2013 and then spent four years working for Pressley Ridge as a school-based therapist before taking on the role of School Counselor for the Steelton-Highspire School District in the fall of 2017.
My hope is that students will have a positive educational experience at Steelton-Highspire and that they will be ready for college and/or a career when they graduate.
So what does a school counselor do, you may wonder?
I teach classroom lessons designed to help students develop the five Social and Emotional Learning (SEL) skills:Self-Awareness, Self-Management, Social Awareness, Relationship Skills & Responsible Decision Making. We also focus on career education in order to help them connect their interests, passions & skills to jobs in the workforce.
I meet with students 1-1 and in groups in order to help them manage life more effectively.
I work with teachers and staff (as well as parents) to help students be successful.
I am always open to listening to parents, teachers, and students.
Don't hesitate to contact me.
